IMAGINE PEACE Manifesto & FAQ

IMAGINE PEACE 2011

Yoko Ono Lennon

18 February 2011

Dear Friends,

Today, February 18th, 2011, I am 78.

I know you are asking many questions on Twitter and elsewhere about what I am really like. It’s something I would love to know, too! One day it will suddenly dawn on us …maybe.

The world situation is too urgent for us now to discuss trivial things, like what I eat for breakfast.

We are at a point in human history when we have to wake up and realize that the only people who can save the world are us.

Every hour that goes by without us doing anything about it affects us, and affects the world that we love so much.

In his State of the Union Speech, President Obama said we should do “big things.” Well, we are already doing the biggest thing anybody in the human history could ever hope for.

Together, we are creating a world of Peace, Love and Freedom, all while the negative forces try their hardest to stop us.

With their power, they want to control the whole world. But we will not let them.

That’s big.

The way we are doing it is by being conscious of the “Power of Togetherness.”

The negative forces do not have that. They are an elitist minority, dipping their heads in arrogant madness.

They always play the same game – using violence, changing laws for their convenience, and seducing us with words to get what they want.

They say if we do things their way, we will all be rich. Well, that’s not happening. It never will. Once there is great wealth, they will want to keep it for themselves.

They also use fear tactics, saying the world will be in a great mess if we don’t do it their way. Well, the world is already in a mess. Why? Because we followed them.

It’s Time for Action. It’s Time for Change.

We, the people of the world, are not dumb. We understand what the “Blue Meanies” are trying to do. We just don’t know how to stop it. And wonder if we can at all.

But we can!

We are doing it.

Take a look at this map. Each dot represents millions and millions of people who are all, right now, thinking of Peace: wishing it, voicing it, and hoping that their dream of peace will become a reality.

Map of global locations of visitors to www.IMAGINEPEACE.com 2010-11 from Revolver Maps

The map expresses what my husband John Lennon and I envisioned. I know he is smiling, thinking of how little time it took for all of us to Come Together.

IMAGINE PEACE is a powerful, universal mantra that we should all meditate on.

With it, we will achieve the impossible. Hopefully, without bloodshed.

Look at all the courageous people who are now being hurt in marches and thrown in prisons for no other reason except for carrying “Peace, Love and Freedom” in their hearts and voicing it.

I don’t want you to get hurt. You shouldn’t have to.

7 billion of us, people of the world, have the birthright to live with a healthy mind and body at all times.

You should not even get one scratch on you, and you won’t, if you don’t allow it.

So keep IMAGINE PEACE in your head.

Have a clear picture of where we stand, what we are doing, and where we want to be.

Know that we are connected in our hearts and minds.

War Is Over, if you want it!

I love you!

IMAGINE PEACE

by yoko ono

for Peace Day: 21 September 2010

You may think: “Well, how are we going to get one billion people in the world to Think PEACE?”

Because if one billion people in the world Think PEACE, we will get PEACE.
Remember, each one of us has the power to change the world.

Power works in mysterious ways
You don’t have to do much
Visualise the domino effect and just start thinking PEACE.
The message will circulate faster than you think.

It’s Time For Action.
The Action is PEACE.
Spread the word.
Spread PEACE.

As my husband and partner, John Lennon said:
“Imagine all the people living life in peace.”

Thankyou.
I love you.

PEBBLE PEOPLE

For Earth Day, 22 April 2010

A butterfly is hopping from flower to flower. Oh, good. I think. The butterfly is busybodying as usual.

We are like butterflies. We busybody ourselves every day for our survival as we think we know how. But the difference with us, is that we know we are not as innocent as the butterflies. We are about to ruin this planet we call ours through our stupidity.

Luckily, there are so many of us in the world, who are now awakened, ready to act to save our world.

So let’s work together to save this planet. Since destiny is created by first imaging what destiny we want for ourselves, we should IMAGINE PEACE in a big way with total conviction. In the old days, gurus sat and meditated day and night. That was pretty powerful. But we live in a different world. Time is so precious to us now. A million kids can be killed in one second as we are wondering what to do. So we can’t just sit and meditate. We should IMAGINE PEACE day and night, as we go about our daily lives.

Yes. One thing that is interesting is you cannot be violent while you are imagining peace.
If all of us in the world imagined peace at all times, there will be no dis-ease (disease) in the world. In fact, dis-ease will disappear from this planet altogether.

We should focus on healing the world we have destroyed, by asking our healing power to come out.
Our intent of healing will start to show it’s power by just asking for it.
When all of us ask the world to be healed, it will be.

Know that it is that simple.
 We are all connected.
We affect each other right away.
We affect each other even when we are in fear, confusion, anger, wanting to destroy the world.
That’s how strongly connected we are.

Let’s start thinking what you can do, knowing that we are standing in the midst of an incredible disaster created by us, the human race. It is so bad that the farmers, who are providing what we eat, are being bankrupted for not complying to the ways of greedy corporate needs, losing their ancestral lands…some of them even committing suicide. The saddest thing is that so many children are sexually abused, sold for human parts and die or perish before their teens.

Please take a good look at what is happening around you. It may seem hopeless. But it is not. It is not difficult to change your down feeling to pure energy of getting the work done with love. Is that possible? Yes, it is.

The Universe will be affected immediately as you start to want to think the right way and correct the disease in our world. Since, disease is only a dis-ease, a condition created by our confused minds.

Send your message through the internet of how you love life and why. Because the people on the internet are also your family.
If you keep meditating in your mind – not giving yourself the luxury of making a special sit-in meditation, but doing what you can do to change the world, if you did that for three months you will see the difference in your life and even a difference in our planet. Thus, we will be making a quiet revolution together.

Just do what you can do. Nothing more.
By that, you will be starting the wheels of goodness to turn.

Something especially wonderful was told to me just recently. Two scientists who were researching the effect of waves in the ocean for two years, came to the conclusion that the smallest stimulus to the water be it a drop of a pebble, or a child splashing the water at the shore, affects the whole ocean, each time. Well, I thought we do affect each other on land, but I hadn’t realized that that was true in the ocean as well! What a blessing! Nature is making things so easy for us!

So now I call ourselves the small pebble people. Send small pebbles to the world. Don’t make big splashes with large stones. That will attract people and the wrong people as well. Our quiet revolution will not make announcements, but one day will be accepted by all people as the norm of life. The human race has done that with many things. Like we wanted to fly, and invented aeroplanes. We wanted to see the other side of the moon, and we have. This time, we want to heal our planet, and bring peace to this world. We will.

I am now starting to miss the butterflies. Where are they now? Once there were so many.

It’s time for you to start your own campaign today. You will see that it spreads and covers the world very fast, and meanwhile it will make you one of the small pebble people. Small pebble people are people who know that small pebbles, when they’re dropped in the ocean, will immediately affect the ocean of the whole wide world. Again, don’t throw big stones. It scares people and creates repercussions.

So we’ll just keep dropping small pebbles. Together. That’s how we will change the world. We change, and the world changes. Have trust in what you can do. Have trust in how fast we can change our world for the better. Why? Because we have to.

I would like to share an affirmation with you. Now say it in your mind with the firm belief that we are one, and together. We’ll make it.

In the name of truth, peace and love,
Our planet is healthy and whole.

We, the people of earth see clearly, hear clearly, think clearly,
Make the right judgement, right decision and the right move
For the benefit of us, our planet and the Universe.

We are now bathing in the light of dawn,
Standing in the heaven we have created together on this planet.

We wish to share this age of joy with all lives on Earth,
As we are one,
United with infinite and eternal love.

For the highest good of all concerned, so be it.

Helping The Peace Movement

by Yoko Ono

On New Year’s Eve 2008, a MySpace friend wrote to me and asked “What can I do to help the Peace Movement?”

This was my reply:

Dear Jake

This is an age where one hero cannot conquer Evil.
Evil is a dis-ease presented to us as our fate.
Many times, it is presented to us as an illusion of goodness, so we get confused, don’t free ourselves from it and be destroyed by it.
To conquer evil, each one of us must first clearly see what it is… that it is a curable dis-ease.
Then work to release us from it’s power in a way we can.
Luckily, there are so many of us in the world, it is enough for all of us to do what we can do with joy, and not feel depressed that we are not doing enough.

We should first IMAGINE PEACE, since we create our destiny by first imaging what destiny we want for ourselves.
We should ask others to IMAGINE PEACE as well.
One thing that is interesting is you cannot be violent while you are imagining peace.
If all of us in the world imagined peace at all times, there will be no time for us to create dis-ease of any kind.

The next thing we should do is to ask to heal the world by asking your healing power to come out in a big way.
Your intent of healing will start to show it’s power by just asking for it.
Sometimes, you will be healing a situation which is not near you, so you won’t see it’s effect.
But healing is being done, regardless.
Again, when all of us in the world ask the world to be healed, it will be.

Know that it is that simple.
Because all of us are one.
We affect each other right away.
We affect each other even when we are in fear, confusion, anger, and wanting to destroy the world and help to increase the dis-ease.
That’s how effective we are.

Start doing what you can do.
The Universe will be affected right away as you start to think in the right way to correct the dis-ease in our world.
Start with something small.
Do one nice thing a day.
Call your mom and tell her you are thinking of her.
Look at the tree and admire it’s beauty in words and in action.
Send a message to your friend what you respect about her/him.
Send your message through the internet how you love life and why..well, that’s big!
If you keep doing that for three months you will see the difference in your life.

Be creative.
Do what you can do.
By that, you will be starting the wheels of goodness to turn.

Lots of love,

Yoko Ono

NEW YEAR’S AFFIRMATION 2008
by Yoko Ono

Dear Friends,

www.IMAGINEPEACE.com is an internet billboard.

It’s like the most modest billboard on the busiest street of the city,
surrounded with colourful signs selling commercial goods, none of
which belong to you. (You know they don’t belong to you, since they
are all telling you to BUY THEIR PRODUCT.)

The sign IMAGINE PEACE belongs to you.
And it will always be there, when you click in.
You can use the billboard just as a reminder.

Or you can download the message and, with it, create buttons,
postcards, posters and T shirts of your own to spread peace.
(Some people may already know this – I am just saying it for the
benefit of the newcomers).

John said: Don’t follow leaders.
Well, that’s exactly what this website is.
It is a website to encourage you to do your own thing.
Also, to remind you that there are many, many brothers and sisters
all over the world who share your thoughts.

You can help it go a notch higher, too, by sending in suggestions of
important films to see, books to read, and statements by the greats
of all centuries to chew on.

Bring in good food for thought for the family!

For this new year, I ask the Universe to give us its blessing for the
health of www.IMAGINEPEACE.com and, that with all of our efforts,
it will keep on sending much needed good vibes to the whole world.

I would also like to wish us all a joyful 2008.
As we once said, “Let’s hope it’s a good one, without any fear”
Have fun – smile with your whole body – and dance!

By the way, I just realized that some people are asking:
“Shouldn’t we be doing more than just Imagining?”
Well, just look around and see what’s happening!
IMAGINE PEACE is working.
And we’ve got to this point without even having a fist fight!
So let’s keep it up.

IMAGINE PEACE:
Think PEACE, Act PEACE and Spread PEACE.

I love you!

1 January 2008

Imagine all the people living life in peace.

I think that that’s a very strong thing to do.
It might be a very controversial thing to do.
Because it’s a very powerful thing to do.

But I think it’s all right to say that.
I don’t think that goes against the policy of this country or anything like that.
I think, in the end, all people in this country really want peace.

But how to get there, some people are thinking in a different way of course.
But IMAGINING – that’s something that we can all do
Even when we have different opinions about how to get there.

IMAGINING PEACE, IMAGINING PEACE…

That’s okay.
That we can all do without feeling the conflict.

If one billion people in the world think peace, we’ll get peace.
You may think: “Well, how are we going to get one billion people in the world to think PEACE?”

Remember, each one of us has the power to change the world.
Power works in mysterious ways.
We don’t have to do much.
Visualise the domino effect and just start thinking PEACE.
Thoughts are infectious.
Send it out.
The message will circulate faster than you think.
It’s time for action.
The action is PEACE.
Spread the WORD.
Spread PEACE.

Remember: A dream we dream together is reality.
So stand up, speak out, and come together.

Imagine all the people living life in peace.

Our land is still whole with wisdom and wealth
It brings with energy beauty and health
Five billion of us dreaming together
It’s Time for Action
The Action is PEACE.

Think PEACE Act PEACE Spread PEACE.
Shed light in darkness
IMAGINE PEACE.

All we are saying is GIVE PEACE A CHANCE.

www.IMAGINEPEACE.com

Q: Shouldn’t we be encouraging people to get together in groups of five,
one hundred or one million to imagine peace together? To show others who
want peace that they shouldn’t be afraid to show the strength of their
numbers? Doesn’t sitting at home and imagining peace still require
organized efforts to actually attain peace?

Yoko Ono: One million people in one country or, even better, one million
people each in many countries, marching at the same time, sounds great.
But the logistics of it is very difficult. Transportation alone would
create so much pollution, as well. I am not saying that we should be
sitting when we IMAGINE PEACE. All of us can be living the life we are
living and working while we DO IT! If billions of people would do that,
that is a tremendous power, without the hazards of trying to meet in one
place just so we can physically demonstrate and prove our solidarity to
ourselves and to the world.

When all of us IMAGINE WORLD PEACE, we are together anyway. The
vibration of being together can be much stronger, because you don’t have
to be burdened with the logistics of trying to physically get together.
A physical demonstration of one million people coming together may look
good. But actually, it is an energetic dissipation on a grand scale.
Imagining is a very powerful and effective method to get what we want. I
ask you one thing: When you are really Imagining Peace, even if it were
just for that moment, can you be violent or kill somebody?

The larger human community you speak of is a collection of strong small
communities created by every day efforts of people of immense confidence
and wisdom. Doubts and criticisms kill. Belief in ourselves and what we
do makes us grow.

Q: Is not carrying out the peaceful will of the people the goal, and can
it really be attained from a sitting position?

Yoko Ono: I am not advocating just to sit around. However, just as the ancient
masters of many different countries and religions have done, meditating
in a position of sitting is a very powerful thing to do. IMAGINE PEACE
MEDITATION. It sends a vibration of peace to the world, and, if
anything, performs a balancing act for the world which is now heavily
tilted towards violence.

People say – “this generation doesn’t march for peace, in the way we
did. Oh, they do, but not like we did in the 60s!.” Well, why then, are
we now witnessing what most people in the world thought could never
happen in a million years in the United States Presidency? What made it
happen? Could it be the marches with waving flags? Could it be our
letter writings to the White House, and editors of magazines and
newspapers? Or could it be the silent, but powerful visualization of
billions of people around the world wishing strongly for change? We were
already using the power of visualization for ages, unknowingly. We, the
human race, first wanted to fly. And we created aeroplanes. We wanted to
see the other side of the moon. And we did. Now we are all wanting to
heal ourselves and this planet.

Know that this is a very different age from the 60s. Marches are not too
effective anymore, even though it gives satisfaction to us when we do
it. Now, the opposition knows how to deal with marches. So let’s move on
to the age of internet and the age of knowing the power of visualization
and using it with strong awareness, confidence and belief. I send love
to our family of Wisdom and Peace.

We are here now.

    Hi Yoko:
I appreciate your sentiments to Jake:
This is an age where one hero cannot conquer Evil.

Earlier, (Sept 21, 2010) you asserted:
Remember, each one of us has the power to change the world.

The world is full of contradictions, and we often experience them in our own lives…here’s a little note I paraphrased:

“Never doubt that a small group of committed individuals can transform everything….indeed, it’s the only way to make it happen.”

  2. As a former Intelligence Operations Officer of our 4th US Armored Division in Goeppingen, Germany and Advisory Team Leader in Vietnam, I firmly believe that we must stop the wars in our world before they put an end to what remains of humanity.
    The War Around Us
About war much has been written.
More must yet be said by those who saw them die,
so that the dead may rest, and sight be gained, to see war for what it was, and is:
War is not fighting, though fighting’s what we see,
nor is it death, for death is but it’s end.
It is the rancor of disunited hearts, the death of love, the end of hope!
The war around us echoes in our hearts, and grants it life.
Once, mortals dared to tame this ancient beast,
    and yet it thrives!
Each age must fight this force again,or pay its price!

  3. Tim says:

Thoughts after watching Emmanuel Kelly sing:
My heart breaks when I hear him. There is so much of God’s truth and grace that is affirmed by his circumstaces – the inherent value of the love of his mother, the just condemnation of oppression and cruelty, the wonder of music, the call for peace, but the Lennons’ song is such an enigma to me. It is as though to say, “The only way to live in these precious things is to deny faith.” I only wish that the Author of the cherished things could be seen in the things that so move us by Emmanuel’s performance.

  4. Malachi says:

    Peace Begins With Us

“Peace is Victory” is both a realization and grassroots organization in which every individual is the center. Within each of our hearts, peace must be cultivated. Only then may it take root without. In other words, you are the movement.

Peace is Victory is a north star illuminating the way to a radiant tomorrow for those who dare to set a course for a new day. The paths to this day are boundless but the direction unwavering. It is not important that we travel uniformly to this goal, but that we meet there as one people.

Put your love, sweat, creativity, spirituality, and life into peace, and you will help to manifest it. Stand out, stand proud, go crazy; we are the ones we have been waiting for.

    (See you there.)

  5. Diane Lewis says:

    Yoko,

You and John had it right.if only the world would listen, maybe they are ready now.

  6. Hal Craven says:

Imagine slipping into a dream out from the nightmare
    awakening in the world you knew was there;
Where all the past mistakes were laid to rest
and so many are now welcomed guests
    All peaceful answers welcomed
As all warriors surrendered going AWOL together
all around the world; finding LOVE!
    Awaken to this every day.

  10. I’m special

    I’m special.
In the entire world there is nobody like me.

    Since the beginning of time,
there has never been another person like me.

    Nobody has my smile.

    Nobody has my eyes,
my nose, my hair, my hands, my voice.

    I’m special.

Nobody anywhere has my taste for food,
    or music, or art.

No-one sees things just as I do.
In all of time there has been
    no-one who laughs like me,
    no-one who cries like me.

And what makes me laugh and cry
will never provoke identical laughter and tears

However, we must put our thoughts into actions.
Times have changed, we live in an interconnected global society which brings many benefits to most of us but we can not close our eyes of global problems that are right next door… it is time to put imagination into belief and belief into action.
Using social media and taking social responsibility we can achieve a SOCIAL EMOWERMENT that can change the world. But we can not just sit there and watch: there are no passengers an spaceship earth, we are all the pilots.

Togeher we can change the world – as a matter of fact, this is the only thing that every has been.
