“Henry Ford knew how to sell cars by advertising. I’m selling PEACE. And Yoko and I are just one big advertising campaign. It may make people laugh, but it may make them think, too. Really, we’re Mr and Mrs Peace”
John Lennon

The WAR IS OVER! campaign was originally launched by John and Yoko on 15th December, 1969. Billboards with the inscription “WAR IS OVER! (IF YOU WANT IT) Happy Christmas from John and Yoko” were placed in 11 cities worldwide: New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Rome, Athens, Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Along with these billboards leaflets were distributed, posters plastered up, newspaper advertisements placed and radio announcements made.

When John was asked how much the billboards cost, he replied “I don’t know – but it is cheaper than someone’s life.”

My lovely Mrs. Peace,

I am forever changed from your’s and John’s music. Profoundly changed. And I will proudly post these everywhere I can. Your words, stronger now for years and blood shed….on American Soil, in New York, and things will NEVER BE THE SAME. I know you talk to John daily, as do all of us…he’s only changed form, and shines all the brighter STOP WAR.

My Dearest Peaceful Yoko,
I cried.
I wanted to take all the children & give them Peace, I don’t know how but somehow, there must be a way.
I thought how great it would be if we all started to rebel against Governments & their warped thinking.
Even better would be after making this vision mandatory for every world Power or Government to watch, the error of their ways would be seen, they would put themselves in the position of the dead, dying, injured & hurt we can but hope “All War Would Be over”.

I must mention Yoko, in watching the vision, I have never witnesses the intensity of the love you & John have for each other , it is palpable – if there was some way to get the rest of the world to feel that love ,we may be on our way to everlasting Peace?
Peace/Love,
SusieQ – Australia

Dear Beautiful Yoko and all Beautiful readers. I will print and post this everywhere I can, but I have a question. What can we collectively do to make more of a difference? I mean, wouldn’t be cool if all the peace loving oppressed of the world could be embraced by free and peace loving countries, and leave the war monger radicals there in their imploding economies, because all those who make their economies roll are gone. They’d have no one to fight and they’d be standing there with their snipers and AK’s with nothing to do! We would win by non-participation! But this is a fantasy and the reality is, the world is about money and oil and very big business. And wars are fought for money and religious fanatisicsm and we can’t move all the potential victims away from the war zones (though personally I’d like to have them around to enrich each others peace-loving lives). SO, my question is, what can we do, because there are a lot of us out there all ’round the world, to make an actual impact. Do we give money? Do we dust off our buttons and our posters and march again? Do we hire lobbyists? What more than this? We have a collective strength, and the power of love, the mightiest power of all.

Dear Lynne,

We show in deed not in words what a family of peace does.

All of us become small pebble people, and keep throwing pebbles with good intentions and vibes every day in our own lives. Sending love to veterans in Walter Reed Hospital is a big way.

Pretty soon, there will be a stamp on our forehead that says Family of Peace. People will trust what we are doing and not what the warmongers are doing. It is a slow process but, like baking bread, you have to give time. That’s why I have been promoting the non-violent way.

Read the papers and you will see that the physical demonstrations of activists are being violently supressed these days, and the activists are retaliating. Sadly, it is another war added.

Inspired by John, I fought against the Viet Nam war in the 1960s and against my father’s wishes as well. I was able to keep myself and my two brothers from being drafted and able to do peace work then and ever since. I wrote a novel about those times.
So it’s wonderful to see the peace work you still do. John inspired me to become a songwriter, then a novelist, & a peacemaker. And you inspired him. Thank you so much. Love you—Peace.

I always adored John Lennon for his amazing music , his spirit ,and convictions behind the music. He had the courage to use his popularity for the ultimate goal of peace on earth, and i love him for that.

Hola Yoko¡¡
