Among the gems on Amazon’s All Is Bright playlist is Yoko Ono and Wayne Coyne’s cover of John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over).” The track, originally released in 1971 by John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band with the Harlem Community Choir, has grown into a Christmas classic over the past 43 years, entering the pantheon of “White Christmas,” “O […]

David Harrington There was a recent article in the paper about how ancient redwoods and sequoias are growing faster now than at any other time in their long lives. When I read this I had just begun my first listenings to Yoko Ono’s Take Me to the Land of Hell. That’s when I began to […]

By Amy McGrath, Reverb Yoko Ono has been a hero in my life since my early teenage years. She is a woman on the vanguard in so many ways — her avant-garde music has always been years ahead of its time, her conceptual art is full of quirky humor and simple beauty, and she has […]

“A Tradition in our family” by Kári Tulinius, Reykjavik Grapevine Airwaves. I did not know what to expect from tonight’s lineup. Essentially it was Plastic Ono Band and various sub-voltrons thereof. I was afraid the gig would be hermetic and insular. People playing for their friends. This could not have been further from the truth. This […]

Saturday – The night was hot! The whole audience gave a standing ovation to Lady Gaga from the minute she appeared on the stage to when her turn was over. And that is saying a lot. That meant people were standing through the long, long songs – THE SUN IS DOWN and IT’S BEEN VERY HARD. It’s a record! At the end of IT’S BEEN VERY HARD, Lady Gaga started to play the piano with her high heel shoes, and I went up on the top of the piano and started jamming lying down. Right away, Lady Gaga climbed up on the piano right next to me, and two of us jammed, in tune, of course. I am sure the audience would never forget this night… You can say that two of us came from one clay…. yoko
To the Family of Peace,
On Hiroshima Day
Let’s: Think Peace, Act Peace, Spread Peace, and IMAGINE PEACE
– so there will be No more Hiroshima or Nagasaki!
Some people are thinking that IMAGINE PEACE is not working.
Well, look around and think how many things are coming out.
Without knowing the truth, we cannot create a truly peaceful world.
It is a blessing that truth is coming out.
Don’t let fear overcome you.
We are all together.
I love you.
Yoko Ono, New York City. Hiroshima Day: 6 August 2010.

by Benjy Eisen, Spinner No stranger to the strange but certainly enjoying a revival on the club floor, Yoko Ono says that her recent success on the dance charts doesn’t really reflect a new direction or creative reinvention. “You should listen to songs like ‘Men, Men, Men,’ ‘O’Oh,’ ‘Will You Touch Me,’” Ono tells Spinner. […]
