We wanted to thank you for your contribution with your WISH TREE to the VISIBLE COLLECTION exhibition “Love Stories” now showing at Asunción (Paraguay) at el Centro Cultural de España Juan de Salazar, until October 7th.
Yesterday night was the openning and we invited people to tie their wishes to your Wish Tree that it is a “Caryota urens” also known as moha-karin, solitary fishtail palm, toddy palm or wine palm. We have used in this Wish Tree for LGTB Human Rights,as a symbol of the union of the tropics. People started tying wishes at night, but this morning more people came to visit the exhibition and added more wishes.
We have included your instructions for the WISH TREE in two plaques: one in Spanish, the other one in Guarani that are the two official languagues that people talk in Paraguay. By the way in Guarani, that is the language of the natives of the country, Paraguay means “Land of many waters”.
We would love to explain that “VISIBLE Cultural Association” (Asociación Cultural Visible) is a Spanish NGO, based in Madrid, that during the last 5 years has been working for the rights and visibility of gays, lesbians, transsexuals and bisexuals. We are promoting art, theatre, literature or cinema who deals with LGTB issues, and using art and culture as a means against homophobia.
We love all the work you have done on issues like racism, sexism, ageism or homophobia during all these years, with your always direct and powerful conceptual and visual messages.
That’s why we are very happy with your contribution to “Visible Collection”, in which we have collected works by artist who have supported the legalization of same sex marriage or helped to erase sexual discrimination in our society.
In this exhibition besides your work there are some other works contributed by international artists like David Hockney, Tom of Finland, Goh Mishima, Gilbert & George, and Spanish artist like Juan Hidalgo , Javier Mariscal, Miguel Trillo or Nazario, among many others.
You can see the whole collection in this addres and go to “ver todas” (see all): http://www.festivalgayvisible.com/coleccionVisible.html
With this collection we are trying to bring information on Lesbian, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals’ Human Rights in countries were is very hard to talk about it. In the last year this exhibition as been touring several South American countries as a way of supporting same-sex marriage laws and for the homophobia and violence against LGTB people to end, by creating work shops, spaces for dialogue and callings for politicians of these countries to talking and discussing without prejudices in their parlaments in other to have those equality laws as soon as possible.
These are the Journals from Paraguay that have talked about “LOVE STORIES” exhibition:
With this e-mail we are including some photos of the event and a short film. We also did lots of pics of the people there smiling and we explained them about your project SMILING FACE FILM, and they were delighted in contributing for the cause of Peace. We have already added it to Flickr all of them with the tittle ASUNCIÓN (PARAGUAY) We haven’t found the map in Flickr to mark it, sorry. Anyway, we hope you like them.
We love you.

Thank you for a very detailed information about the show! I think it is sad that we still have to educate people on this subject. But it needs to be done. So this is good. I am very, very pleased that you have curated this show. Thank you.
With love, yoko
