<description>Hi Yoko, I adore your creativity and engagement with the world. Thinking about
your essay on what poetry needs to be. I am guilty of writing poetry that
leans toward the metaphysical too often and here and now I resovle to take
more of a stand towards the world and what is going on.

Yoko, I feel rap songs are just waht you are speaking on - an energy machine,
violence, speed and youth, however many people are turned off by rap because
of the package it [the &quot;songs&quot;, more accurately the message] is presented in.
Frankly, at times this style and topics have annoyed me, when in reality this
is the aim of most art, regardless if everyone views rap as art.

People can&#039;t get pass the messengers of rap to hear the message. Kind of like
the movie Magnolia with Tom Cruise and excellent movie, about authentic people. One of the scenes is a young black boy trying to tell a police officer what he needs to know to solve a case that is prevelant in the news.
The police officer can&#039;t hear past the young boy&#039;s curse words and the fact
that he is not in school at this moment, so he [the police officer] misses
the entire point.

Anyway, I can go on and on, and I&#039;m not sure you will even have the time to
read this comment so I won&#039;t. However, what I will do is make a concentrated
effort to add more revelance to society in my poetry.

Thank you Yoko for the heads up.

Love, Peace &amp; Joy,
Mia
