We - the German Performance Art duo ZEE. Zaboura Eichstaedt Experience. were very much inspired by the events of 1969 which took place a long time before we were born. Today, being both in our 30s, we look back at the world 40 years ago and see so much, that still is a big issue today. 2009 is definitely the year where alot of ideas that Yoko and John spread 40 years ago, are going to bloom.

Here is our video tribute to Yoko & John's Bed-In: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZT6rD4a73c

I wasn't even born yet when "bed peace" took place. But it inspired me a lot and I made some thoughts around it on my blog some months ago. I thought it could be a possible way to reach more people, if the message was translated into other contexts and jargons - e.g. the digital immigrants (blogger, twitterer, hacker etc.)

I'm sorry that my written thoughts are in german. But the graphics in it - which put the whole post in a nutshell - are in english: http://brainblogger.de/2009/03/hack-the-war-happy-40th-year-of-peace-anniversary-to-yoko-john

Happy 40th “Year of Peace” Anniversary to Yoko & John! Hack the war! Upload peace!

Montrose Peace Vigil, a group of activists who have stood on a street corner every week since January 2005 to advertise for peace, will lie down to celebrate the 40th anniversary of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Montreal Bed-In this Friday, May 29, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Ocean View Boulevard and Honolulu Avenue in Montrose, Calif.

Our tribute to John and Yoko’s Amsterdam Bed-In last March was covered in the link I put in the comment above.

This second Bed-In will have more of everything that made the first event so successful and joyful – live music, signs, pajamas, bathrobes, pillows and dozens of flowers to give to pedestrians in Montrose Shopping Park. The headboard and inflatable mattress return to the corner by popular demand.

You’ll find more photos, links and plans on our message board:

The tribute Bed-In by the Montrose Peace Vigil that Nancy Hutchins wrote about above made the front page of the Glendale News Press, which is owned by the Los Angeles Times, last Saturday. Here's where you'll find the story and three photos:

Friday, March 27 af 5:00 P.M., my Montrose Peace Vigil participants and I will be having a tribute Bed-In during our usual weekly Peace demonstration and we plan to continue beyond our usual 7:00 P.M. time. We made signs such as "John & Yoko Bed-In 69-09" (so passing cars will have time to read it instead of "anniversery), "Hair Peace.","Bed Peace.", and "Give Peace a Chance" (of course). We will hand out flowers, play guitars, share the bed (blow up mattress & headboard), grow our hair & spread peace at the corner of Honolulu & Ocean View, Montrose, California, 91040. (Tom Smothers & Dick are from neighboring Tujunga.) Plans, discussions are on montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com. Remember Love, Nancy

The revelation of October 1988

We don’t like the system in which we are forced to live.
U.T.O.P.I.A is the system that we want for tomorrow.»

The Rhinoceros party (neorhino.ca) becomes Marxist-Lennonist, Groucho Marx and John Lennon

Excerpts:
(...) «It seems very important for the conduct of leadership to follow
the people to know where they are going in order to lead them
where they already are.»

During this tough period of hardship, illogical struggles and selfcriticism,
some of our members said that we were surely the clumsiest
leftovers from the left, while others denounced our right turn.

To paraphrase Groucho Marx Brother, we knew that it wasn’t a
very good idea ‘to belong to any party which would accept us as a
member’, but as comrade John Lennon remarked, ‘Whatever gets
you through the night, is alright.’»

Lost that we were among the carnival of confusion, we remembered
the words of wisdom that our beloved founder has left us a
legacy. Indeed, when he founded the Party, Docteur Ferron said:
«There are left horned rhinos,
right horned rhinos and center horned rhinos. Rhinos are not
sheeps.»
(...) The nation sees us as the manifesto of the power of positive
absurdity thrown in the face of absolute idiocy. We should not disappoint
the nation, but deliver the rictus, this wealth which makes
Canada such a beautiful and great country.

We wish you all the
best wishes for a very merry campaign in the hope that there will be
others again and again « (...)
RCMP - Rhino Central Main Portion

The neorhino wont make a tribute to the bed-in next spring in Montreal and wont to give you a gift from all artists for peace.

Dear Yoko,
Happy Birthday and many wishes for another splendid year of your efforts on behalf of world peace and spiritual harmony for all mankind. I cannot believe it has been 40 years since we were thrilled by your visit to Toronto and Montreal and that the 40th anniversary of our milestone concert at varsity Stadium took place. I have probably given away a hundred or more copies of John & Yoko's YEAR of PEACE (the DVD) and am so proud to have been able to be a part of the peace effort back then to launch the WAR is OVER campaign in Toronto and the subsequent but failed efforts to stage a world peace festival. Of course Nixon was in the White House then and worked against our every effort, (as we now know) just as he pursued John some time later as was so well documented in The U.S. versus John Lennon. I think with Obama now in the White House we should stage a 40th anniversary peace festival...I know we would receive the blessings of many officials who are in positions now to help.
I hope to see you in montreal for the opening of the show at the end of March but will suggest to Ritchie Yorke that he convey this message as well and see if it is something you think would be appropriate ands timely.
Love to you and Peace as always,
John Brower
