Forty years after John Lennon and Yoko Ono staged a Bed-In for Peace,
The Beatles Revolution Lounge at the Mirage, Las Vegas is preparing to host a tweet-in for charity.
Micro-bloggers who use Twitter to log and share short dispatches with each other are being
invited to attend a “Twestival” at the Fab Four-themed lounge on Feb 12.
The three-hour tweeting session is being held in hopes of raising money and awareness for
the non-profit group, charity: water, which works to provide safe, clean drinking water in
“Social tweet-ups like this are a great way to meet the faces behind the avatars while raising
money for a good cause,” event organizer, William Crozer, said.
“Twestival is organized 100 percent by volunteers, and 100 percent of the event proceeds
will go directly to charity: water to hopefully impact thousands of lives,” he added.
The party at the Mirage is just one Twestival benefiting the water-conscious charity.
Similar events are being organized in 170 cities worldwide.
It is, however, the only one being held in Las Vegas.
While revelers tweet, meet, and give a good cause, Revolution will provide the parched
microbloggers with free “twee-tinis” from 7 until 10 p.m.
All proceeds from the door — cover starts at $20 — will go to charity: water, along with
money collected through raffles and donations. Organizers promise a range of “high-end
packages, services and goods” will be raffled off throughout the evening.
Global sponsors include Live Earth, Amiando.com, TipJoy.com, and Mashable.com,
while a handful of Vegas-based supporters, including Crozer’s Ikea-importing company,
Modern LV, and The Light Group, have also thrown their support behind the event.
Tickets for Las Vegas Twestival are now on sale!
Tickets are available through Amiando, a global Twestival partner.
By purchasing a ticket to Las Vegas Twestival you are making a donation to charity: water.
Each donor level’s ticket is treated the same. What you decide to contribue is completely
up to you, we just require a minimum of only $20. Our goal as a city is to raise $12,000,
enough to build three wells.
In addition to door entry we are offering raffle tickets which will be entered into a drawing
for prizes donated by some of our sponsors. There are no limits on the amount of raffle
tickets you can purchase. Guests that purchase the Gold and Platinum Donor levels will
receive five raffle tickets per donor in exchange for their contributions, but you may also
purchase additional single raffle tickets or five packs. Guests that purchase the Platinum
Donor level will also receive a “thank you” gift for their generous contribution.
Gifts are limited to the first 50 Platinum donors.
All guests will receive complimentary “Tweetini” cocktails throughout the evening.
100% of proceeds from these sales will go to charity: water.
