Hi All. I rarely ask for mass action, but my wife’s SPARK program, that works with Boston’s most vulnerable kids, is under threat by budget cuts… but also up for a big award on Virgin Airways site.
So, if you will, please help a struggling program keep going.. It will take 2 minutes from clicking away to clicking back here. all you have to do is sign in and vote HERE. THANKS! and if you want to send this note on to your mailing list, especially if you are David Plouffe,…. or yes, you, Yoko Ono, our hero…. an extra special THANKS!!!
“To nominate a charity to be on the Virgin page, people must be from Massachusetts, but to vote, people can be from anywhere in the country – I confirmed this with the Virgin America staff who are maintaining the site and managing the promotion.”
About The SPARK Center
Boston Medical Center’s SPARK Center offers comprehensive and state-of-the-art medical care and services for Boston’s highest at-risk children: those living with complicated medical conditions (including HIV/AIDS, failure-to-thrive, and neuro-developmental challenges.). SPARK focuses on those children most-in-need and often living in poverty, including very low birth weight’ babies as well as children who are involved with the Department of Social Services due to significant family and social concerns (including child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, adult substance abuse). To find out more or contribute directly, visit our website.

Why Your Gift is Needed
The SPARK Center relies heavily on institutional (BMC) funds, state and federal grant support, and the generosity of private foundations, individual donors and volunteers. Unfortunately, in recent years, federal budget cuts have weakened critical services to the neediest, including childcare and special services to children living with HIV/AIDS. Most children at SPARK live in poverty with parents and caregivers who struggle daily to maintain the integrity of their families.
The SPARK Center recognizes the importance of providing high quality medical and psychotherapeutic services free of charge to its unique population. Your contributions help us meet the individual needs of each SPARK child and maintain excellence in staff training, programming, and all aspects of our special facilities. Undesignated donations for specialty teachers, general operating expenses, special equipment, and classroom supplies are also greatly appreciated.
Volunteers and Interns
Volunteer assistance with children and with daily demands of program operation are always welcome. Internship and training opportunities offer another exciting way to get involved. For more information about volunteering or interning at SPARK, please call Barbara Armandt at 617.534.2050, option 9.
Call us and come for a visit. Together we can meet the challenge!
