(or how to make the city
so light that it floats
away in the sky)

Carry a stone. Go on
carrying heavier stones
until they become so
heavy that the whole
city starts to look
lighter than what you
are carrying.

  1. Lavinialuna says:

The city already looks so light, and I fear that it might get lighter, but I chose to set down some of the stones. First one, then another. Not that I stopped caring, just that I stopped letting the stones own me. They will still be there when I come back, when I chose to carry them, and I can chose to carry them one at a time. Now I see the city and it is light like me. We swirl and get dizzy and look into the sky and wonder why we are not flying.

    Dedicated to Jorge, my friend.

  2. ~Oh Yoko~ {LennonLover} says:

Very interesting and intelligent, Yoko. The idea that if we keep on adding weight to what we are holding until heavy things in comparison seem light.

  3. William Concannon says:

I carried too many stones for too long. I became upset and threw them all down at once. The impact of the stones falling caused the city to shake, become loose from its’ chains, and float away into the sky.
It was fun to watch, but I hope the city returns before sunrise, or I’ll have much explaining to do.

  4. Lavinialuna says:

Jorge, you are my hero! Did you ever think of becoming a therepist? You could use Yoko Ono Lennon’s concepts as your guide, although I think you have some pretty amazing thoughts of your own! I appreciate your kind words today. Far too often the phrase “Smile and the world smiles with you, cry and you cry alone” rings true.
I loved the part when I went through the cemetary and waved hello and goodbye to Lavinia and Luna, I could picture it and it was nice to meet them finally. You should make a movie about a journey such as this. You brought me many huge smiles to my face as I read the amazing journey you took me on, like the other time when we lifted the buildings by attaching balloons to the roof. Remember how many balloons it took and how our fingers ached from the tying, but we got it done (lol!)
All of my clouds will be names Jorge tomorrow ;) Love Jamie

  5. C. L. DeMedeiros says:

    we
    all
    should
    try
    to
    care
    stone
    in
    our
    heads
    for
    a
    day…

I’d like to know WHY Yoko puts up with May Pangs’ constant public interjections that John loved her for 18 months.

It’s so obvious that John ultimately loved Yoko ( his soul mate), ergo, his being with Yoko and NOT Pang.

    Yoko, you are John’s love.

    I’m pissed at Pang.

  7. Lilly's Life says:

We are all carrying stones which are so heavy everything around us looks lightweight. I want to throw away the baggage, put the stones back where they belong and put it all into perspective. We should be the light ones – free, floating and at peace. Everything else is an apparition in time.

  8. Jorge Artajo says:

    Dear Jamie (LaviniaLuna):
You have created a wonderful artistic image with your post.

It’s a good visual description for the people suffering physical pain or depression. Yes, while the others seem to float full of life and their existences seem to have a meaning, you just want to dissapear by sinking like a stone in the deepest abyss or starting to hivernate expecting to be sleeping 100 lives.

So girl, I don’t want you to be like that. No, no no: Forget about the pain and repeat some of the exercizes we made at this DANCE FESTIVAL in the last 15 days.

Well, I can clearly see that you are now in 12th day

SWIM IN YOUR DREAM AS FAR AS
YOU CAN UNTIL YOU FIND AN
    ISLAND.

OK manipulate your dream a little and find that island at once.

So now that you are in a beautiful island under a friendly sun smiling at you, with coconut trees, smell of luxurious wild flowers and sweet guitars around playing calypsos… go to 7th day.

“boil water and watch until it
    evaporates”

Imagine you are the cloud coming out from that boiled water. Now you are lighter and for the much I know, clouds are always dreaming, so here you are floating away with the city and the rest of us.

Well, now I’m blowing a little directing you to 6th day

“go see a horizon, measure it
from where you stand and let us
    know the length”

Forget about measures or any other kind of heavy and boring tasks. You are a cloud you have no need to see a horizon, because you are part of the horizon and we are the ones looking at you and appreciating your beauty.

We all are in 8th day:

    counting clouds: 1
name it: Jaime, Lavinialuna, Jaime, Lavinialuna, Jaime, Lavinialuna,… (Oh my! I’, becoming jealous! Somebody can zee a Jorge cloud over there?)

Now that you are free from any kind of burden just enjoy the flying and go to the acorn that was planted on

    WATCH PIECE III
    Go outside of you.
Look at yourself walking down the street.
Make yourself tumble on a stone and fall.
    Watch it.
    Watch other people looking.
    Observe carefully how you fall,
how long it takes and in what rhythm you fall.
Observe as seeing a black and white slow motion film.

Look at yourself rising from the fall.
See how long it takes you to start rising, how you stand
    and what you do afterwards.
Observe it as seeing a technicolor film.

Jaime: Don’t you think that as a cloud it’s easier to play problems and pains down? so keep on flying lovely girl and allow me to carry you to this wonderful acorn planted on

    CONNECTION PIECE III
    In the evening before sunset,
go as far as you can from where you reside
    without losing its view.
    Watch it for awhile.
Think of all the things that happened in there,
and the many miles you walked inside the rooms.
One day, you may move away from it.
One day, you may pass away from there.

Be kind to yourself this evening.
    a) Buy something for yourself.
    b) Treat yourself to a meal.
    c) Look at the mirror and give a smile to yourself.

I think it’s time for you Jaime to become rain coming through the soil and as an underground water run through the cemetery where Lavinia and Luna are, shake hands with them (Festival 9th day) say hello and goodbye and go fast to work your way out to erupt as a hot spring fountain (Festival: 5th day) letting us wet and amazed. What a great ritual! (Remember the comment and the video you posted that day? I could not forget it. I’m still laughing)

So well, now with your feet on the ground again do: 10th day

    go find a clover

Take the clover home and share it with your family. Tell them about the clover: its story, its problems, its loneliness, its beauty, its importance,…then breathe together. (1st, 2nd, and 3rd day)

Keep on breathing Jaime. We all love you.

    P.S.
Tomorrow or whenever remember to return to Dance Report – on floating and try it again.

  9. detrich says:

we have received a post card from detrich.
He’s out of the cupboard. Seems it was a small one. he prefers to say he’s out the closet.
    Anyway, he didn’t write much.
Said he had a job carrying stones.
It still amuses him to call them Mick, Keith, Charlie, et al. he does that to beetles too. Calls them by Beatle names. In some ways he never grew up. Perhaps we cared too much for him. Mind we like the light way he carries on and so do others. Always commenting about his grace they are.

  10. Phos Ellipsis says:

When you are tough on yourself the world doesn’t seem as tough to you…

  11. Lavinialuna says:

Oh, so sad, lament for me!! My body itself is so heavy from pain that the city already floated on without me. But I will lay on the ground in the fetal position in the warm spot it created on the earth and take a nap, cry myself to sleep :(

  12. Jorge Artajo says:

Everything is possible after a Sunday morning in the woods rolling over fallen leaves with the people you love.
So, yes of course, now the city is floating away in the sky in the distance, but we are so light now also, that after a nice meal we’ll spread our wings and it will be wonderful get back home by the evening.

Great challenge, I will do this today.

I’ll bet the city will look a lot lighter after the day is over.

Thank you Ms. Ono-Lennon for your insights and specialness.
