How are you doing today?
I’m fine. The Spring weather in New York City is giving me a thing called HOPE for good times this year. We can all have hope, you know, and it doesn’t cost us anything! I love you!!!

David ‏ @dave_totallysb
I had read somewhere that you collect rare books… do you have a favorite in your collection?
I don’t collect them. They come to me, like some message I need to look into…

Empati Rockar Fett! ‏ @empatirockar
How can we sell and advertise EMPATHY, when media earns better money from apathy, rawness, porn and violence?
Just don’t have EMPATHY with people who are into apathy, porn and violence. Protect yourself from that mode. People who escape, especially from violence do not need your advertisement. They will escape for their own good. If they don’t, they will be a victim of the choice they’ve made.

Alexander Fletcher ‏ @LordAlexander96
Are you planning to visit the UK anytime soon?
I was there for two weeks or so. I just came back yesterday. Will be there again soon.

Alexander Jones ‏ @JonesAlexJones
Hi yoko, i was wondering as you are a lover of dance, have you ever been to the ballet?
Ballet? Yes. But I am more into freestyle body movements.

ronald eveleens ‏ @kuusamon
Hello Yoko, how many Japanese lesson did John took? Was he able to get around in Japanese? Was his teacher Niizumasan?
He had a few teachers… off and on. He was too busy to really get into it. But created wonderful drawings for people who want to learn Japanese. It’s now a book, called Ai (Love) and it is a wonderful way of learning Japanese if you can get hold of the book (probably out of print now.)

Esther Alinejad ‏ @pooh4peace
Hi Yoko, Happy Easter~How do you manage to deal with people who are control freaks? Love You! XO
I try not to be a control freak. You can only take care of yourself, you know. We all have it in us to want to be such a freak! Avoid at all costs. It’s a losing game.

Flavia ‏ @Liliana884
I’m 23,and I’m afraid of growing old, as if I want to be a young girl forever. What would you suggest me to do? Thank you
You will never be old, unless you want to be. I am a young 79, counting the days till I become 80 – which is very, very soon, and loving it! Of course, sometimes I feel miserable. But I did feel miserable and scared of life even when I was four years old… yoko

Ran Jocker ‏ @Ran_Jocker
What about your child dream? What you saw in you future when be just a little girl? RJ love
I didn’t know what was in my future. Even now, I don’t know what my future entails. It is very nerve wrecking and at the same time a very exciting thing, if you think about it at all – and I don’t.

havana: spent a peaceful PM near the beautiful statue of john relaxing on a park bench & thought of you. have you been?
One day, I want to go there and sit next to John on the bench. That’s one of my dreams.

Do you think you should always follow your own dreams and loves, even if they are not always the most sensible or accepted ones? :)
Even if you thought you were following somebody else’s dream, that is your dream. It’s alright to follow your own, but it’s alright to follow not your own. There is no such thing as not your own, when you are following it.

Name 3 foods you do not like to eat.
Depends on my condition at the time. If I had no food to eat for ages, would I eat a rotten apple? I probably would. If I just ate a huge box of chocolates all by myself, would I immediately eat the chocolate cake baked and sent by my mother? I probably wouldn’t. And I probably will get a call from her “Are you eating the chocolate cake I sent you?” Sorry, mom!

Martin Clarke
Dear Yoko, have you ever thought to go thru the vaults and, hopefully, come up with a box set of your unreleased and rare recordings? There must be hours and hours worth of your beautiful music. Peace X
Thank you for asking, Martin. Yes, there must be quite a few tapes in my closet. But beauty is in the ears of beholder….

Friendlike Friend
A friend, Jeff Perkins said you were the one who turned him into an artist. He first met you in Japan when he was assigned there in the army. I know you were friends and did a number of performances with him in New York and elsewhere……….. but I wonder how your time was with him in Japan back then when you two first met? How did you turn Jeff, a soldier, into an artist? I know many people are artists, they don’t have to make “art” but they are artists….. I know many people who I consider to be poets but they don’t have to write poetry, they just are poetry…… maybe it was this way with Jeff?……… How did you facilitate his transition from soldier to artist? How was he back then?
He was always like what he was/is… a lovely person. I wish him all the best.

Stephen Fisch
Yoko, I really enjoy the “Stripped Down” version of “Double Fantasy.” it’s great to be able to hear John’s voice as clearly as you can on that recording. Is there any chance that other recordings of his might get the same treatment?
We’ll try.

Natasha Lea Jones
how about a world wide chinise whisper?
Whisper Love.

Anthony Fizzuoglio
I want to spread happiness on campus, how can I start?
Be happy yourself, It rubs off on others.

Jordi Saravia Droguett’
Desmond Tutu said “we’re all linked to each other”…do you agree with that?
We are linked to each other like gorillas on heat. But don’t tell that to desmond! (just joking.)

Scott William Campbell
Oh Yoko, I wish you and your family a very nice Easter weekend.
Thank you. And ditto to you. yoko

It is known you are a very good musician and piano player. Why have you not put out some kind of instrumental LP? Whether it be electronic or classical, is it on the horizon?
I am still creating songs with vocals and words. One day, I may do some instrumentals. But not now. Too many songs come into my head with pure vocals and words.

Karen Bullock
How do you deal with fear and apprehension? How do you take away their power?
Fear and apprehension are real energy, telling you to watch out. I don’t take away their power. I use their power to think clearly what I must do.

Aino Ahlgren
What do you think about euthanasia?
It is a very difficult issue. In order to protect people from its danger, we must have a very wise law. But also, we need law to protect people who wish to end their iives. Therefore, we need case by case decision making, which we are not in power to do. Therefore, I think we should not have any general laws for euthanasia – which is not a perfect solution. But it is a start.

Miguel Lopez
Hi Yoko, how true is that you and John were atheists?
We were and are.

Kjell Dahl · Friends with Merete Kortsen
Seing the world as it is; are you a religious person beliving in higher powers?
I believe in higher powers created for many reasons. But I do not believe in one God or one religion.

Timothy Mulholland Ross
Is the world run by shape-shifting reptiles?
We are all running the world by running away from the issue.

Laura Dickinson
If each baby born in the world, from this moment on, would hear it’s first words from you, what would you tell each and every one of them?
WE love you. But it is better that they hear the sounds of this Earth planet, than any words from me.

Michael Kerr
Hi Yoko, who are your favourite artists? The ones who really make you feel good to be alive :) ?
The thing that makes me feel good is the fact that there are more and more people believing in becoming artists, rather than joining the army.

Erik Kugler
Hi Yoko, I hope you can answer this: What is art?
Art is what you love.. If you don’t love it, you will never know what it is.

You asked the elephant, the tiger, and the window in your last album; what would you ask the human? 1-2-3-4 I love you.
1-2-3-4- I love you. Walk a thousand miles and send me your smiles. And just remember I love you.

I’m teaching 10 year olds a Peace class today, any ideas?
Tell them that peace starts with loving yourself and having peace inside yourself.

Railhouse RockStock ‏ @RockStockPromo
how can I help you change the world? I want to be a part of the solution…
You are already the solution, by wanting to find out what you can do to help change the world. You are changing the world just by starting to think what to do. The answer to what you should do will come from your heart.

Dee ‏ @craftbliss
What message do you have for those being bullied today that may give them hope? Peace & Light ~ Dee Brower
To not suffer privately, but to connect with others who are bullied and create a united power. It is not easy. But you can do it.

Flavia ‏ @Liliana884
What do you do when you’re scared? Thank you, I’m so happy you exist. Flavia
Don’t be scared of being scared. Being scared is your protection. Use it well.

Marion Billington ‏ @dtroflight
How do you clear yourself of negativity when you feel someone not only let you down, but betrayed you as well?
That’s a hard situation. But just know that we all experienced it and survived. Breathe deeply, and tell yourself that you will survive. You just had an unpleasant experience we all had in a thing called life. Move on. Spring will come again.

Michael Gates ‏ @michael_gates
You reference the sky fairly often in your work. Is it because it is something we all share?
When I was in the country during the second world war as a teenager, hungry, lonely, and had no one to depend on, I looked at the sky, and fell in love with it. It was shining in blue. Something about it made me feel alright. Since then, I rely on that feeling I had then, a long, long time ago.

Frida Budtz ‏ @FridaBudtz
Was being able to live by your art work hard? I’d like to study art but it’s hard to make it a suitable living after.
I never thought I could make a living with my artwork, and I haven’t yet. Art gives us something beyond economics.

Brian Amor ‏ @Brianiscoolyo
I saw a film about you awhile ago. I was so inspired by your courageousness when you were young. What inspires you?
The tremendous curiosity I have for life is what is sustaining me. I feel I want to know more, and I know I will. Isn’t life amazing?!

love, yoko

Joseph Martin john is a light that will never go out for all you need is love will continue to feed this light
he was a poet, songwriter, composer, a father, a champion for peace but most of all he was just a man. unlike paul m. he could feel and write a…bout pain and longing and reach the depths of dispair and somehow it was beautiful Help i need somebody, so i sing a song of love for julia, mother you had me but i never had you, women you understand the little child inside a man, i was dreaming in the past and my heart was beating fast, if you want money for people with minds that hate all i can tell you brother you’ll have to wait, war is over if you want it, no need for greed or hungar a brotherhood of man,but most of all IN MY LIFE I LOVE YOU MORE
happy birthday john you are loved and i and millions more will miss you

  5. Felipe says:

Yoko, your message is beautiful and we still believe in Peace.

Here in South America we fight everyday for our beliefs, our ideals, our peace motives and for the beauty of life.

Sometimes is very hard to swim against the currents, against over consumption, against the media, against the powerful and their money.

But when i saw you and your willpower to keep screaming for peace and love for everyone, i feel alive now and i’ll keep yelling and working to build a better world for us all.

    Thank you Yoko. Mata ne!
