Yoko Ono answers your questions every Friday on Twitter & Facebook.

Friday 25 July 2015

Edi De Riso
Dear Yoko, when you wake up at morning, you remember your dreams?

Not always. And I am glad. It’s nicer to start the day with a clean slate.

Terry Abraham
How do you maintain such infectious enthusiasm and engagement in life?

Because I am breathing the Planet Earth and the Universe every day.

Frankie Wasabi
Yoko when I look at the sky I think what a wonderful show it’s putting on. What do you think about when you see the sky show ? Love you

I love the sky every day, whether it’s raining, snowing, cloudy, or fair!

Lee New
Yoko, will there be another Plastic Ono Band performance?

Yes. Definitely. Plastic Ono Band is like the day that changes its form every second.
Listen to the eternal time as you see it.

Emi Leonetti
Yoko, how can we achieve peace in our daily lives – whether it’s unto ourselves or unto others?

When you look at the sky, instead of the ground.

Scott Himrod
What are the possibilities of wishing on a star really working?

It’s working.

Grant Collinsworth
Hi Yoko, the manner in which your work is presented to the world, suggests a very proactive way to reach people on many levels. It is also possibly the envy of many politicians, who clamor around fame to advance their own agendas. In the fold, many artists are trying to make political statements directly (not through their art, but using their art to leverage their ideals to the public) Should artists use caution when they do that?

Caution is like a disease, it kills ideas. Be daring. And caution will disappear.

Rick Spisak
Ms Ono, first thank you for your lifelong commitment to using art to speak out on societal issues. Do you believe that artists have a responsibility to speak out on social issues, or does this mantel fall only upon some artists who feel that call. Again, I thank you for your fearless commitment to your inner vision.

No artist has a responsibility to speak out. You can only be what you are. Good luck!

Tanya Kuznetsova
How to make world better when making it better in your country is considered illegal and anti-government activity?

There must be something that is allowed… Why don’t you breathe well, every day, and send out clean and good breathing to the world? If all of us do that, our planet will be livable, whether we have terrible politicians or not.

Robert H Burke
Do you believe that there are other planets whose occupants live in peace?

I haven’t heard any bombing going on…

Stephanie ‏@stephcast1
Who inspired you to become an artist?

Nobody on our planet.

Chelsea ‏@ChelseaLuvsJ
Do you believe a person can be in love with someone they’ve never met, but still feel a strong connection to?

Of course. Deep Love can exist between two people with a conceptual connection.

Mike Thomas ‏@mikethomas1959
I am a great believer in, if you believe it, chase it and make it real. Do you agree Yoko?

I think that will happen even if you don’t chase it. If it is something you believe deeply, it will come to you. So watch out.

Sarah Joyce ‏@SJ5125
Is it better to try and fail than never try?

That was my theory… And so i am here!

Kuh Del Rosario ‏@kuhangeles
How does art help you let go of the fear in your heart?

Nothing helps you to let go of your fear except you. Know that fear is what is necessary to protect yourself so don’t make an incredible effort to erase it. Let it be.

NYFA ‏@nyfacurrent
Yoko, our emerging artists are wondering how to stay motivated as an artist when facing rejection? Any advice?

Rejection is part of our lives. It’s better that you are rejected by something so abstract as art. You will survive without bleeding.

norton ‏@nortonmythos
How to maintain focus when having lost all due to kidnap, cult, mobsters, fires, thieving business partner?

Are you speaking of what you read in the papers or your real experience? If this list of things are something that happened really in your life, I don’t think you would be here anymore. Be thankful that you are here.

Kimberly Simmons ‏@Jahovahchild
What steps do you think we as a people and especially our politicians need to take to change this world around?

Politicians are humans too. They can do much actually. Red tape, threats, etc. Don’t throw everything on their laps. Do what you can do.

sorrynotsorry ‏@samikaharu14
Parenting advice? I have teenager

Get some advice from them too. They will like that, and will surprise you by being pretty responsible.

Scott ‏@Pris_ris_Scott
I fancy making a curry this weekend, but am stuck between a jalfrezi and a murgh makani. Which would you make Yoko?

I love any curry that’s made well by a clean, healthy and loving person.

Clay Graham ‏@TheOnlyClay973
Do you think people would still want to go to heaven for eternity if they knew there was no cable or internet?

Something far more advanced may be waiting for you.

Joseph Martin john is a light that will never go out for all you need is love will continue to feed this light
he was a poet, songwriter, composer, a father, a champion for peace but most of all he was just a man. unlike paul m. he could feel and write a…bout pain and longing and reach the depths of dispair and somehow it was beautiful Help i need somebody, so i sing a song of love for julia, mother you had me but i never had you, women you understand the little child inside a man, i was dreaming in the past and my heart was beating fast, if you want money for people with minds that hate all i can tell you brother you’ll have to wait, war is over if you want it, no need for greed or hungar a brotherhood of man,but most of all IN MY LIFE I LOVE YOU MORE
happy birthday john you are loved and i and millions more will miss you

  5. Felipe says:

Yoko, your message is beautiful and we still believe in Peace.

Here in South America we fight everyday for our beliefs, our ideals, our peace motives and for the beauty of life.

Sometimes is very hard to swim against the currents, against over consumption, against the media, against the powerful and their money.

But when i saw you and your willpower to keep screaming for peace and love for everyone, i feel alive now and i’ll keep yelling and working to build a better world for us all.

    Thank you Yoko. Mata ne!

    Felipe Nadeau.
