Bill Conrad
Hi, Yoko, another question from your long-time (over 40 years!) friend: When you compose a song, do you tend to do the thoughts/words first, and wrap the music around that, or do you start with a musical idea, and fit the thoughts/words to it? Much love always, Bill Conrad

It usually comes music and lyrics together, like the first line of music and lyrics. Then it’s easier to develop it. So that’s why I am considered a fast writer. Because I really am.

Sabrina DeCurtis
Hello Yoko! My question relates to fashion. What fashion accessories and/or colours do you consider to be the go to for spring 2015? You continue to inspire women’s fashion in both your own style choices and the music you make. Thanks for being as awesome as you are! Paca paca :)

It all depends on where you are living in the south or in the north, etc., you have to choose what gets you.

Albert Murrian
I can’t listen to Double Fantasy without tearing up. “Hard Times Are Over” is the most hopeful song I’ve ever heard. Will hard times ever really be over? What gives you hope these days? love, Al

I am so glad that you are moved by HARD TIMES ARE OVER. The first time around that was Double Fantasy, of course, the song did not get us to where we wanted it to take us to. But let’s try it one more time. Let’s try singing it in our minds and picturing a place that is shining with the beauty of nature. Strangely enough, that was what I thought recently when I heard the song in my mind.

David Liljemark
Do you like flea markets? I find them utterly inspiring!

Yes I love the ones in London and in Paris, too. But there must be other cities in the world where they have great ones. Don’t we like to know?

Holly Pasternak
What’s your favorite city besides New York?

Every city I went to, I fell in love and thought I must get a house or an apartment right away. Of course, but I always settle with finding a nice coffee shop I can go to on a rainy day…

Phyllis Crenshaw
Good Morning Yoko, You have had an extraordinarily deep passionate love in your life. ♡ What would you say is the most important, in a relationship, to acquire a strong loving, passionate love such as yours & John’s? ♡ You are gifts to one another. Your’s is my favorite love story. Thank you.

Luckily we loved each other. If one had loved more than the other, that would have been such a tragedy don’t you think? Yes. I miss him.

Eli Guinness
Good morning Dear Yoko! I want to ask you about the connection you and John had with Robert Browningand Elizabeth Barrett-Browning? You wrote two beautiful songs based in their poems…..

John kept reading about them and said “Yoko, we are them, don’t you see? So many things indicate it. Elizabeth was older than Robert, too!” “Yes John?” Now, I believe it… sort of…

William Evarts
Do you play classical music anymore? I understand, BECAUSE (by The Beatles) was inspired by you playing a classical tune backwards.

Two things I am not doing these days… cooking and playing classical music. I don’t know why, but it doesn’t make me feel like I want to do it. I use the time for activistm and more and more reading….

Brian McAfee
Yoko, When you and John drove cross country in the 1970’s in the station wagon did you come through Colorado? I was wondering if you enjoyed the beauty of the state.

Yes. Colorado had the nature’s beauty then and quiet. We loved it. We didn’t know that one day my daughter would create a home there…

Arthur Williams
What do you enjoy most in life today in the 21st Century Yoko. We love you Yoko!!!

I enjoy getting up in the morning and looking from my window I see the delicate change of weather. Every season is so beautiful. Seeing that first thing in the morning lets me know how lucky I am! And then I learn all day. It shows to me how little I know. And how much I still have to learn. That is an action that is not open handed, beautiful and joyous like looking over from my window and seeing the beautiful sky. It humbles you to realize there is so much you don’t know. But at the same time, it gives me a great feeling that I am learning. Learning the game of life.

Mari Mcnamee
Just saying hello Yoko and that your work at the Cosmopolitan is stunning, elegant, fantastic while also bringing Peace to Las Vegas. Have a good weekend, love, Mari.

Thank you for your encouraging words. Yes. I hope the people of Las Vegas enjoy seeing the beautiful Sky suddenly coming down to their town. And for once, they don’t have to look up to see it! The sky is part of their town!

Diana BR ‏@DianaBR_76
Dear Yoko. I think sometimes that the opposite of peace is fear. How do you see the role of fear in the world today?

Fear seems to be the strongest emotion in our town called THE WORLD. But don’t be scared. LISTEN TO YOUR HEARTBEAT and REMEMBER LOVE. WAR IS OVER if you want it.

manami ‏@1110Cinemad
You continue being an artist all the time. Where do you get your inspiration from? Your world is really amazing!!

I AM, I BELIEVE in love and life within.

Jessica Dacey ‏@jessdace
What’s the secret to staying creative?

Focus.

Tim Cusack ‏@TheatreAskew
How does one persist in making art when it sometimes seems like the whole world hates art, unless it’s profitable?

People do not hate art. They indulge in passing hatred if artists make money from art. And they are right to suspect that artists are having much more fun being an artist than any other profession. Artists have freedom in their minds.

Dorinda Ozianne ‏@ojieeee
How would you define inner peace? And how do you attain that?

By realising inner peace brings health and longevity to your life.

Agota Krnacs ‏@KRN_AGO
How much time do you spend in silence each day?

I never measure.

devani riesland ‏@DevieRiesland
What was your favorite perfume in your mid twenties?

I preferred oil – like Rose Oil, Gardenia Oil. Perfumes are too men-made.

Ceciley Jenkins ‏@CecMonster
Yoko, where do you think love comes from?

From a combo of your brain and your heart.

Felicia Marano ‏@cutelyobsessive
Hi Yoko! Any advice for bringing a boyfriend home?

Don’t do it unless you are sure that he would be liked and he, in return, would enjoy your family.

Tamitra Williford ‏@tamwilliford
Yoko, if you were invited to put something created by you into a time capsule for 100 years, what would it be?

I’m doing the very thing you are asking me now. The wishes of people have accmulated to over 1 million, and they have been preserved in a capsule which will stay for at least 100 years.

Leni Destia Edward ‏@LeniEdward
Do you believe that music is bigger than we thought? Like How big music can give so much effects to people

The vibration of music is very potent, and travels distances very, very fast.

Joseph Martin john is a light that will never go out for all you need is love will continue to feed this light
he was a poet, songwriter, composer, a father, a champion for peace but most of all he was just a man. unlike paul m. he could feel and write a…bout pain and longing and reach the depths of dispair and somehow it was beautiful Help i need somebody, so i sing a song of love for julia, mother you had me but i never had you, women you understand the little child inside a man, i was dreaming in the past and my heart was beating fast, if you want money for people with minds that hate all i can tell you brother you’ll have to wait, war is over if you want it, no need for greed or hungar a brotherhood of man,but most of all IN MY LIFE I LOVE YOU MORE
happy birthday john you are loved and i and millions more will miss you

  5. Felipe says:

Yoko, your message is beautiful and we still believe in Peace.

Here in South America we fight everyday for our beliefs, our ideals, our peace motives and for the beauty of life.

Sometimes is very hard to swim against the currents, against over consumption, against the media, against the powerful and their money.

But when i saw you and your willpower to keep screaming for peace and love for everyone, i feel alive now and i’ll keep yelling and working to build a better world for us all.

    Thank you Yoko. Mata ne!

    Felipe Nadeau.
