Wish Tree at Oakton Elementary School

by Christine Gray (Principal, Oakton Elementary School), Oakton Elementary’s Blog

The Wish Tree Project, sponsored by OES Art Teacher, Sarah Brooks, began this week.  Students are welcome to write down their wishes and hang them on our wish tree.  Our Oakton wishes will be collected on International Peace Day and mailed to the Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavik, Iceland by Yoko Ono.  They will be added to over 700,000 wishes she has collected from people all over the world.

Make a wish
Write it down on a piece of paper
Fold it and tie it around the branch of a wish tree
Ask your friends to do the same
Keep wishing
Until the branches are covered with wishes.

Wish Piece by Yoko Ono, 1996
